An Average Day
I spend much of my day entering orders and generating invoices for some of our larger medical device customers. When they have questions, I roll up my sleeves and chase down the answers. It’s a lot of details and moving parts, but it’s very satisfying creating these long-term relationships with our customers. It makes things so much easier because I’m able to better understand their business and be more responsive to their needs.
Past experience
I spent 20 years with Norstan Communications (now Black Box) and I worked with customers to design/redesign the software in their PBX phone system. After that, I joined Marquette University to be their in-house resource to manage their phone systems and I was there for the next 22 years. I suppose you could say that I have always valued long-term business relationships.
Favorite memory
A couple of weeks after my 60th birthday (about 2 months after I started), a former coworker got a late start at updating the anniversary and birthday board we had at that time. When she realized my birthday had been earlier in the month, she felt bad that it had been overlooked. Fast forward to the day of my 60 ½ birthday, I turned on my office lights to find my office full of customized birthday decorations. It made me laugh out loud and really brightened that February day! That coworker had taken her own time to tweak and hang the decorations. What a thoughtful thing to do!
Fun fact
I have a lot of hobbies such as crossword puzzles, sudokus, jigsaw puzzles, beading, counted cross stich, reading (especially outside in the summer!), board games and playing cards. I like to cook and bake and love to travel. My daughter is an oncology nurse at Children’s Wisconsin and I am as proud of her as it is possible to be.
